Traces of Civilization

Traces of Civilization is an exploration of empty spaces that still carry a trace of human life. It is an early project on my part, done several years ago on my first camera. All the images were taken in Belarus, a country with vast open spaces often covered in fog. This project started as images taken on a short roadtrip, just a bit outside the capital city. There I found myself standing alone, a bit lost and feeling the melancholic nature of the Belarussian landscape. The only thing connecting me to the urban life, were the overhead powerlines.
